Gynecological operations (operative gynecology)

Surgery

Minimally invasive and highly specialized operative gynecology in the heart of Belgrade. Modern techniques for faster recovery and maximum patient safety.

Operative gynecology represents one of the most delicate and responsible aspects of women’s healthcare. At the Center for Women's Surgery at Palmotićeva Clinic, our primary goal is to provide superior surgical therapy that maximally respects the integrity of reproductive organs, ensuring a fast and painless recovery.

A Modern Approach to Treatment

The era of large, open incisions in gynecology is steadily becoming a thing of the past. Guided by the latest European and global protocols, we rely primarily on minimally invasive endoscopic surgical methods (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy). These methods ensure exceptional precision, significantly reduce postoperative pain, minimize infection risks, and allow the patient a rapid return to daily activities.

Most Common Surgical Interventions

Our surgical team possesses decades of experience in performing the most complex gynecological procedures. Dedicated to continuous professional development, we routinely execute a wide spectrum of surgeries:

  • Laparoscopic Surgeries: Diagnostic and operative procedures for the treatment of endometriosis, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancies, and pelvic adhesions.
  • Hysteroscopic Interventions: Precise removal of endometrial polyps, submucosal fibroids, and uterine septa, all while carefully preserving fertility.
  • Gynecologic Oncology: Surgical treatment of malignant and benign tumors of the reproductive system, applying the latest oncological guidelines.
  • Traditional Gynecological Surgeries: Abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies for indications where a minimally invasive approach is not feasible.

Minimally Invasive Outpatient Procedures

In addition to major surgeries, we perform a variety of reliable interventions in pre-conceptional, aesthetic, and functional gynecology on a daily basis. These procedures do not require prolonged hospitalization, providing immediate relief and aesthetic confidence:

  • Cervical Biopsy and Curettage: Obtaining high-quality tissue samples under colposcopic and ultrasound guidance, followed by pathohistological verification at a reference laboratory.
  • Cryotherapy and Laser Excision: Efficient treatment for HPV infections, genital warts, and benign lesions on the vulva, vagina, and cervix, ensuring minimal damage to surrounding tissue and rapid healing.
  • Aesthetic Genital Surgery: Labiaplasty provides both functional comfort and aesthetic satisfaction, meticulously tailored to each individual patient.

Safety, Comfort, and Postoperative Care

Every surgery begins with detailed preoperative preparation, including comprehensive internal and anesthesiological assessments. During the intervention, the safest short-term or regional anesthesia is administered, rendering the experience entirely painless. Our expert team affectionately monitors the patient in luxury-equipped recovery suites, providing clear oral and written instructions for continued home care.

With a dedicated surgeon and state-of-the-art technology, your journey to recovery begins without delay.

Patients often ask

Thanks to modern endoscopic techniques (laparoscopy and hysteroscopy), recovery is drastically shorter compared to traditional surgery. Patients are generally discharged the same day or within 24 hours, returning to regular activities within a few days.

Most major procedures are performed under general or regional anesthesia for maximum patient comfort. Some minor, outpatient interventions, such as laser removal of small lesions, are performed under effective local analgesia.

In most cases, you can return to desk work and light daily activities within 7 to 10 days, depending on the extent of the surgery. Individual recovery plans are always discussed prior to discharge.

On the contrary, operative hysteroscopy is often performed precisely to address issues like polyps, fibroids, or septa that prevent conception or cause miscarriages. It actively helps preserve and improve your reproductive health.

While every surgery carries some risk, endoscopic procedures have an exceptionally low complication rate. Due to modern equipment and the vast expertise of our team, issues like infection or unintended tissue damage are minimized compared to open surgery.
